Happy New Year! Posted on 08 Jan 08:43 , 0 comments
As we begin 2018, I'd like to sincerely thank everyone who supported me in 2017. Here's a look back at what happened in 2017.
2017 was quite a year and started out with a bang with our inclusion in the first Puptown Girl Box. We were on vacation and I woke up to a tag on Facebook linking back to the first unboxing video, what a fantastic way to start the day!
We have been featured in a couple more boxes through the year, The Bundle Box being the newest addition. This box provides hand curated gifts for both mom and baby and makes a wonderful gift for new and expecting moms.
In June I received the news that the Oatmeal Neem Dog Shampoo was being featured as a Fave Find in Modern Dog Magazine. This brought attention, not only to my products but to The Snoopi Project. The Snoopi Project provides much needed vet care, dog houses or foster homes to dogs in need in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. They also provide food to help owners in need and help out other rescue organizations in the area. (Our latest fur-baby Floyd was rescued by the Snoopi Project in August and found his way to Ottawa in early October.)
2017 also marked our 3rd year as a vendor at the Metcalfe Farmers Market and participated in our first Ottawa Farmers Christmas markets.
There's a lot in store for 2018 including streamlining our packaging, with refillable, reusable and/or recyclable items. Refills will be offered at a discount, if you know you'll be attending a market let us know and we'll be sure to bring the item you're looking to refill.
Our first market of 2018 is the 10th annual Living Locally Fair January 20th, hope to see you there!
Our schedule for the upcoming holiday season is filling up!
I'll be set up at Evo Studio in Orleans this Saturday from 9AM - 12PM. Stop by and sign up for one or both of the classes they're offering. I'll be giving out free bath bombs to all that participate.
Next weekend is the annual Lions Club Craft Fair at St. Mark High School in Manotick, Ontario. This will be our second year participating and we'll be in Gym A/B once again.
If you're unable to attend one of our holiday markets remember that pick-ups are always free (Orleans/downtown/Cornwall) and delivery can be arranged either through us or Gopher It Deliveries
There are only 2 weekends left for the Metcalfe Farmers' Market and although we'll be happy to have the option of sleeping in on Saturdays (until Christmas markets start up), we're going to miss our market family!
This year the market started allowing dogs to enter the market building and we love it! We're right across the aisle from Three Dogs & An Oven, a lovely lady who bakes up all natural dog cookies. She knows every dog by name and they all make a bee-line to her booth and sit nicely while waiting for their samples.
To get you started with your holiday hopping, Canada Post is allowing small business to ship one parcel for FREE within Canada each Tuesday in October. I've created discount codes for each Tuesday and added them to the calendar. To allow time for packaging, orders must be placed by 11:59 PM the Sunday prior.
Thank you all for a wonderful 2017 market season, stay tuned for the list of our Christmas markets and open houses!
I'm a week late posting our September calendar. We took a quick trip to Montreal via train, (which I highly recommend) for a quick visit with friends which included a delicious meal at a Mexican restaurant, an amazing hotel, shopping and the highlight - seeing Depeche Mode!
There are only 2 more weekends remaining for the Heart of Orleans Market and we'll be there for both!
There will be no market in Metcalfe on September 30th, the 161st Metcalfe Fair is happening that weekend. One of the oldest fairs in Canada, it's well worth the trip!

This summer is just flying by! The farmers' markets are filling up with fresh produce and we've already received our chicken and pork CSA shares. If you're looking for local, organic meat be sure to stop in to see Amber at Arc Acres if you're visiting the Metcalfe Farmers' Market.
I've added some accessories to the store. The first being handmade soap dishes. They will mostly be one of a kind so if you see something you like let me know and I'll set it aside for you! I've also teamed up with my sister to offer personalized makeup bags. These are available on their own or as part of gift sets.
A hand washing station has been added to our booth. Each week we will be offering a different product for sampling each week, be sure to stop by and see what's new!

I can't believe Canada Day is less than a week away! Where did the time go?
Despite the cooler start, June was a fantastic month!
We were thrilled to be a part of the Grand Opening of the Cornwall Kinsmen Farmers' Market and see so many familiar faces from my time growing up there. June also marked the start of the second season of the Heart of Orleans Market. We're happy to have a market so close to home and to see our neighbours out and about enjoying the local produce and handmade goodies.
We had some new products released in June, including the dry pet shampoo, body oil spray and sensitive skin deodorant. The most exiciting June news is our Oatmeal Neem Dog Shampoo was featured as a Fave Find in Modern Dog Magazine. We're kicking July off with a Canada Day celebration at the Metcalfe Farmers' Market! The family division of the Metcalfe Fair will be there hosting a strawberry social, there will be extra draws, free cookies and live music! A fantastic way to spend the morning away from the crowds.
Our full July calendar is below, but the online shop is always open!
It's hard to believe we're already three weeks into market season!
We've had a great time reconnecting with our customers, fellow vendors and friends at the Metcalfe Farmers' Market. There are a few new faces this year so be sure to come check out what they are offering.
Yesterday was the first Cornwall Kinsmen Farmers' Market, held on the beautiful campus of St. Lawrence College nestled on the St. Lawrence River. The turn-out was fantastic and I really hope the momentum keeps going. This is just the thing the city of Cornwall needs. We're looking forward to going back on June 11th!
This Sunday, June 4th we'll be back for the the Heart of Orleans Market opening day. This market is entering it's second season. We only attended 2 of the markets last year but this year we are happy to report we will be in attendance for a total of six weeks! Watch our calendar for exact dates.
June 18th we will be taking part in Craftfest 2017. This is a 15 day event showcases over 100 handmade makers. There will also be a popup shop set up, workshops, beer tasting and so much more. The organizers and sponsors went all out on this one in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday and we are thrilled to be included!

This summer is shaping up to be a busy one! Our 3rd season at the Metcalfe Farmers' Market starts up on Saturday and we couldn't be more excited! We can be found at 2821 8th Line Road in Metcalfe, Ontario each Saturday from 9:00 until 1:00.
We will also be an occasional vendor at the new Kinsmen Cornwall Farmers' Market which will be held on my old college grounds. St. Lawrence College in Cornwall has one of the most beautiful campus locations and I'm looking forward to spending some time by the river. You can find us at this market on opening day, May 28th from 11:00 to 3:00.

I'm very excited to announce that many of our products will now be available at Innescents Flowers and Gift Baskets in Orleans.
This mother/daughter run shop is full of the beautiful wares of several local artisans. You are sure to find something for even the most difficult to shop for here.
Innescents Flowers & Gift Baskets can be found in the plaza at 2020 Lanthier Drive.
It’s now been a year since Sunsational Soaps & Lotions was launched, and what a year it’s been! In a few short months I went from developing a body butter to quench my Winter parched skin to developing several soap recipes, learning new techniques in natural soap colouring and creating several facial products that help everything from acne to wrinkles (eczema included).
I’ve taken part in several craft fairs and even co-hosted a local handmade holiday show. My products have been a part of weddings in Punta Cana and Mexico and milestone birthday parties in Barbados and Mexico.
I look forward to what the next year brings, requests are coming in for 2016 weddings and I’m busy stocking up on favourites for the upcoming Market season.
None of this would have been possible though, without the encouragement and support of my family, friends and customers.
Thank you all!
